Kara Castro's Bio:
Kara Castro is an accomplished professional (Dawn Astram, Greenwich Workshop) whose work is admired by collectors around the nation from California to New York.

The Michigan born artist's love of art and outstanding talent can be seen from as early as her elementary school pencil drawings and her watercolor paintings created while still a young teen-ager. Since high school she has been displaying and selling her work in art shows and galleries as well as selling to private collectors. Her preference for realism is noted in her work from the detailed embroidery and lace on a young woman's dress to the wisps of hair blowing across her face. Her love of both portraiture and equine art is likewise noted in her paintings.

In 1989 the artist moved to California where she now resides with her husband and children and continually improves on her technique. The self-taught artist prefers to work from original photographs, the large majority of which she herself takes. By carefully selecting both her un-posed models and settings and rearranging her photographs as well as her virtuosity with the paintbrush, Kara has created a style that is uniquely her own.
