The Mission of the Arts Council

The purposes of the Arts Council shall be:

1. To provide a mechanism for more effective local arts planning.
2. To help organize and increase private and public sector support for existing and new cultural and educational activity.
3. Develop rural and suburban areas which have not fully participated in arts programs.
4. To provide a more stable base of support for the arts and individual artists at the local level.
5. To help coordinate local arts resources.
6. To expand artistic awareness, participation and expression in all areas of the arts -- visual, literary and performing.
7. To help strengthen existing arts organizations and encourage new ones.
8. To provide assistance to individual artists.
9. To assume responsibility for the administration and direct financial accountability to the State for the County Arts Plan and for all funds received for the Arts Program.
